Halloween Weekend

Ok, I am cramming everything into this one post, so yes, you will have to read all the way down and see alll the pictures! Did I mention it is one of my favorite holidays ever??
This weekend started off with a fun playdate at Baby Bounce at Northpark on Friday with Luna and her friend Tinsley showed up with her daddy Thomas, who was playing Mr. Mom for the day.  Luna loves all the sing along songs and baby games we play in the class.  It was such a beautiful day, that we spent the afternoon doing tummy time outside on our lawn- and yes, that is my old comforter she is laying on from when I was 2, a child in the 70's for sure!  Then, Daddy Todd got home from work and we headed out to our neighbor's Halloween party.  We were afraid to put Luna in her costume already for fear she would have it covered in spit-up by the end of the night, so she wore her little pink dress from her Aunt Mimi and was a 'princess' for the night.  They had an awesome set-up with a movie showing outside for the kids, a huge potluck table of food, kegs and candy for the kids.

On Saturday, Todd's day to sleep in, Luna and I headed out to the Lake Highlands Early Childhood PTA Halloween Carnival with her friends Tinsley and Ava.  It was at White Rock Elementary and was complete with a bounce house, face painting, slides, Chick Fil A sponsored food, yummy baked goods and balloon makers.  Luna was easily entertained by just looking at all of the babies and kids running around. We saw some of her playdate friends, Jack, Addison, Clay and Alex with their parents living it up in their halloween costumes, but I totally forgot to take cute pics of them :(
We had helped move Aunt E out to my mom's house yesterday, and then found out after the carnival, that she was taken to the hospital today because she was so weak, and they discovered she has blood clots in her lungs after dealing with her ulcers all week, poor thing, can't catch a break! So we decided to stay home with Luna and not take her to the hospital today, because she hasn't had her flu shot yet and the dreaded RSV season is here. We went to eat at MiCo and then stopped by our friend Bao's house (who just moved to the area!) When we got home, we went over to congratulate Luna's friend and neighbor, baby Jillian who is 9 months old and was Baptized today!  Luna had a full day and was not in bed until 9pm!

So on Sunday, Halloween, and my favorite holiday by the way, we got Luna dressed in her lamb costume and headed to the hospital to see her grandparents.  My dad had driven up yesterday and because we still don't want Luna around the hospital germs and sick people, we had my family come down to the car to watch her while Todd and I went up to see Erika.  She had a blood transfusion today and it helped with her weakness, and hopefully will get her back on track!  She is on meds to break up the clot.   Not a fun way to spend Halloween!!  We originally planned for the whole family to come over to see Luna and take pics at our house and hand out candy.  So glad that they at least got to see her for a while today.
We then stopped by our friends Mike and Traci's house to see Grayson for Halloween, and then headed home to get ready for the trick or treaters.  We strolled on down to a few neighbor's homes and first started at Jack's house (dressed as the cutest Jack-O-Lantern) and met his grandparents and great-grandparents, and Luna loved seeing their doggie Chloe dressed as a pumpkin.  We stopped by a few other neighbors so they could see Luna all dressed up and then the tricker treaters started coming in droves!  So many cute costumes, lots of Toy Stories, clowns, Ninja's, Star Wars and princesses. She loved the candy bowl and kept trying to grab it, and when Todd took her away from it, she started crying!  Our first tantrum, I can just see the future now with her at Target begging for a candy bar and crying when I tell her 'no!'
I just love Halloween and this is the first one I have not dressed up and gone out to a party to celebrate, so funny how things change now that I have a child, she for sure takes center stage!!!

Luna had quite the adventure today. First off she attended my OT appointment for my wrist early in the morning and did NOT nap during the appointment as planned, poor thing!
Then off we went to the planned event for the day! Going to William-Sonoma for the book signing of Bakerella's cookbook at Northpark Mall. We got in line at 11:30am and I was number 68, and Luna's friend Jack and his mommy met us there and waited in line with us, then we were ushered into the store for a demonstration at 12pm.  I knew Luna would have a meltdown soon as she was starving, so I had to nurse her in the back corner of the store during the demo, which was such a relief because she was much happier, who knows what state she would have been in if I waited!
We then got back in our line, and by the time we got up there (there was around 200 people waiting total), it was around 1:30pm.  So, we get inside and then I got disorganized. The staff asked for my book, and I had 2 cameras (in case 1 didn't work out) and I had Luna in my arms and the stroller- it was a very rushed ordeal- so I got up to meet her, and was star struck but managed to tell her I was glad to meet her and the staff had my cameras snapping away and then we were done! After all of that, I was so excited, that I didn't realize Luna had her paci in her mouth the entire time!!  I love her little smile and could not believe I forgot to take it out for her big Photo Op!!  And I only had it in her mouth because she was getting restless in line, but normally I try not to let her have it as much. Darn! Oh well.  I guess that's part of being a Mom and managing 5 different tasks all at once!  She was so tuckered out, she passed out the minute I put her in the car.
We can't wait to check the Bakerella.com website to see if she got on her blog.

Playdate

I've forgotten to mention that the past few days, Luna's Aunt Erika has been visiting and staying with us while she has been sick with ulcers. She is afraid to be alone and can't take care of herself and can't make it to my mom's house in Plano as the car ride is too far for her right now, so Luna has been spending some quality time with her Aunt.

But I still take Luna out to some sort of an activity each day and today we were invited to a friend's house for a group playdate- at her friend Ody and his mom Ann's house.  Her friend Jack was there with his mom Heather too and Luna had a great time seeing all the older babies crawling and walking.  She is sitting up a lot more now, with my assistance of course, but I can tell she is really wanting to sit up as she can see sooo much more and all the toys available to her!

Oh, and she is modeling her baby Van's today that her Aunt E bought her as well :)

Since we joined the Arboretum, we are going to try to go as much as possible and enjoy the benefits.  Today we ventured out with Tinsley and her mommy, Bao and we convinced them to join as well!  We had a nice picnic on the lawn, went to the pumpkin patch and saw all the fun kid activities going on like Kindermusic and face painting.  Luna passed out halfway through our excursion but really enjoyed being outside and hanging out with her friend Tins.

This Saturday we had a great visit from Todd's family! His sister Heather, brother in law Rey and nephew Reynaldo Jr. and our niece Carolyn. They were passing through from San Antonio and Austin on the way back home to Oklahoma City.  Luna loved seeing her family and being held all the time and the kids made her giggle constantly.  We hope that they come back to visit soon! Oh, and her onesie is hard to see in this pic but it says 'My Aunt is My BFF' :)

Baby Bounce

Luna really enjoyed attending her first Baby Bounce class at Bookmarks at Northpark Mall.  Her friend Jack that lives down the street met us there with his mommy Heather. The class is run by the Dallas Library and is a free class lead by a woman who gets the babies moving to fun baby songs and nursery rhymes and ends the class by reading a book.  Luna loved the dancing and singing and cried each time the music stopped!  So we hope to go back, especially since it's free!
We also ran into a mom, Chelsea, who was in my birthing class, and since we all spent 10 weeks going to classes together while pregnant, it was cool to meet her little girl Lylah, post-pregnancy.  Oh, and so typical, I could not get the babies to smile for the camera for anything!

Yep, that's my little girl for sure! Starting to bake at an early age while helping her Mama make Raisin Bran Muffins.  I loved baking as a child and had my own cabinet for my baking supplies and Luna can't wait to start collecting her's too!

Cry Baby Matinee

Luna went with her mommy to the Cry Baby matinee at the Angelika theater today.  They were showing 'Social Network' and there were a lot more mommies than the last movie we tried to see there.  It was so comforting knowing it was okay for a baby to cry and we all ended up pacing up and down the aisles to get our babies to calm down and take a nap.  Luna really enjoyed herself!

Luna and her Auntie Maria

Luna was so excited to meet her Aunt Maria for lunch today!  Luna is especially happy to have Maria in her life because if it wasn't for her, she would probably not have been born!  Maria was the mutual friend that went to Ursuline with me and introduced Todd and I to each other :)  We would love for her to move back to Dallas, but can you blame her for living in San Fransisco? Hmm, Dallas or San Fran? Hard decision :)

We took Luna to the Arboretum today to enjoy all of the Fall festivities!  She loved the pumpkins and all the fun Fall events going on, but most of all, she just loved looking at all of the other babies and kids!!  She was mesmerized and laughed at all the kids running around. Of course, when we tried to take her picture, she would not smile for us!!  Oh well, maybe next year.  It is so beautiful there that we decided to join for the year, which is an amazing deal and can't wait to go back for picnics and all the other events with her.  And we love that we live 5 minutes away to Dallas' most beautiful places.
