Befores and Afters. What a difference right? The one on the left was the first day we were looking at our new mid-century house. Brown, brown, and more brown was all that we saw. We first painted the shutters black when we moved in and it made a huge difference. BUT we had a lot more we wanted to do, just didn't want to spend the money (like 3K just to paint the brick!). After 3 years, we finally did it! Painted the brick, installed new windows, and are currently redoing the landscaping too :) Now if only it will hail one more time, we can get a new roof!

I hosted a Princess playdate at my house last week and the girls LOVED it! In fact, they were so into it, they did not want to stop to take a picture (as you can see above!). I really wanted to have a little princess party for our girls since they are all into it right now, and it will only be a couple of more years until they are 'over it!' That will be a sad day in our house :( I had all of the girls come dressed in their favorite princess outfit too. They were so precious! I also had our kitchen table set up with decorating tools to make their own crowns and magic wands. I served some pink cupcakes, mini and regular sized and some pink lemonade (my camera was on a weird setting but I promise the cupcake icing was pink!). My neighbor Delaney brought over some cute marshmallow treat magic wands! And thanks to Jenni for bringing over the Princess party plates and cups! I also had a couple of tables set up for the girls to have their tea parties! I think Belle and Luna are both trying to say, "it was a success!" They had so much fun, I hope we can do it again soon!
We are so fortunate we have great friends with memberships at the local pool, the KC Pool, where we are #468 on the list to get in, and have been on the list since 2010. And lucky our good friends the Squires just bought a new lakehouse in Cedar Creek Lake. Lots of summer swim time. We went to the KC pool for Isla's birthday last week and the girls had a lot of fun! We spent last Sunday at the Squires new home and the girls had a blast!!
This summer, Fair Park Dallas is having their theme park Midway open for the kids to ride the rides, and play games. We went on a Thursday and it was so much fun! It was hot, but they had misting fans, most of the rides were in the shade and lots of indoor AC. There was also a huge indoor sand play area and had a/c :) We had lunch in the indoor greenhouse area and the kids loved watching the trains go by. We would definitely go back for sure!
We let Todd do whatever he wanted today since it was his day, and do you know what he picked? Working in the yard. Yep. He wanted to work in the yard all day, so poor guy was in the sun. Then we went to dinner at his favorite, Cedars!
We took a much needed beach trip to Galveston this week! We rented a house in the Pirate's Beach area and we had a great time. Luna loved building sand castles, flying kites and jumping the waves! Belle loved being with us but was not into the sand at all. She's a crawler and all over the place at home, and I was afraid she would be at the beach but she clung to me the whole time. We loved going to Pleasure Pier, the new boardwalk, and Luna enjoyed riding the Carousel while Belle and I watched. And they were amazed at all of the crazy rides for the big grown ups! We then ate on the water at Fisherman's Wharf. Luna loved looking at the boats and Belle had fun eating her puffs at the table :) On the way home, we stopped at the Strand and had some old fashioned ice cream. Bye Bye beach house! We then headed to Houston to visit my dad and Sherry. We hit Cyclone Anayas for dinner where they were passing out free shots as a promotion, and we rinsed out my cup so Belle could play with it. She clearly knew what to do with it! We had a great time visiting Grandpa and Sherry! The girls loved it and we can't wait to come back soon. We had a great trip! But so glad we got back on Saturday so Todd and I could relax on Sunday and recoup from the car trip :)
We went to Caroline's birthday party and Luna and Belle had so much fun! Ava and Tinsley were there and they enjoyed playing with each other. We also visited the Perot this weekend. We loved the old Nature and Science Museum, easy parking (free!), no crowds, huge play area! The Perot? It's great but much smaller, parking is insane, crowds are crazy, and we joined as members this year, but haven't been much. I think we'll go some more this summer though to beat the heat! We also went to American Girl Doll for the first time on Sunday! We wanted Belle to get a Bitty Baby and wanted to see how Luna liked it. It was a little overwhelming and we promised Luna she could pick out an accessory item (not a doll) and it worked! She didn't ask for a doll this trip :)
