3rd Trimester!

I am finally in the home stretch!  I am 28 weeks along now and just a couple more months and I am almost there.  It has gone by super fast and can't believe the time is nearing.  I am already feeling large and can only imagine how much bigger I will get.  Apparently I am carrying her all in the front, about 19 pounds gained total so far and all of it  in the front, so needless to say my back has been killing me.  I can only sit up in a chair for about 2 hours before it starts killing me and have to lay down for a break, so Todd and I went to Babies R Us and bought a special maternity back brace that helps support the bump. I have to say it has been working wonders.  I also saw a Chiropractor who gave me some good tips and exercises to help as well.

And because I am in my 3rd trimester, my energy is very low so I had my last hip hop dance class on Monday until after the baby is born :(  I just can't keep up and get tired quickly, even though I was trying to do it low impact.  So now I try to keep my energy level up by doing yoga and light weights as well as some walking and elliptical, as they say your energy gets zapped in this trimester.

As I have grown out of some of my clothes, I went to Northpark to find some cute long and big shirts at my favorite store, Forever 21 XXI this past weekend.  I came across their new children's department and bought our baby girl her first Forever 21 shirt ever!  As most people that know me well know that I have an obsession with the store and have been a loyal shopper there since 1997 in Austin, TX.  Of course the shirt is like a 3T but I figured she could wear  it as a sleep shirt sooner.  She will look adorable in her hip new shirt.

Dallas Snow Storm

We could not believe we woke up to such a huge amount of snow!  It broke records here in Dallas as some of the most snow fallen in 24 hours! I think it reached to about 12.5 inches in some places.  They said it had not snowed since 1978 like that and I vaguely remember that as a child. I thought those winter storms were a thing of the past here in Dallas!

I woke up at 3am to hear a screeching noise and thought some idiot driver had skidded into our yard or something, only to look out the front window to see a huge tree had fallen onto our street from our neighbor's house.  This tree is one of the largest ones in the neighborhood and is about 200 years old and I love working from home and looking at it out of my window every day.  It has been held up by metal poles over the years and just didn't make it, and they said they will have to take the whole thing down :(

Todd walked around the neighborhood with Chica and I stayed in as didn't want to risk slipping and falling down being 27 weeks now.  He took a bunch of pictures of all of the fallen trees.  It is amazing at how much snow is everywhere, but of course is now melting as this is Texas weather for you.  We usually get a good ice storm each year but this was unbelievable!

Momo's 90th Birthday!

My grandmother turned 90 years old on February 5th so we spent the weekend in OK City celebrating with her.  Our cousins, aunts and Uncles all joined together to celebrate.  She has 4 kids, my mom and her 3 brothers and then 8 grandchildren.  It is hard to believe she is 90 as she looks so young!  We were very happy to be there to celebrate with her as a family, as it is hard to get us all together in one place since most of us live in other cities.  Momo, as we call her, is very excited as well to be a new great-grandmother and can't wait to meet her in a few months!  I was her first grandchild so it is exciting that she is also going to have another 'first' :)

26 Weeks

We went to our monthly appointment on 2/3 and it was one I was not looking forward to. I had to fast for 2 hours, then drink this orange glucose drink 1 hour prior to my blood glucose screening. I already have a fear of fainting from blood being drawn after a few episodes in college, and since I am always hungry  being pregnant,  I was afraid I would feel extra faint before the appointment. So I went on a search of a massive breakfast burrito, finally found one at Taco Joint and ate a 1 pound burrito right at the 2 hour mark.  I have never been such a glutton in my life and I was definitely full for the remainder of the day and barely ate my dinner!  It did the trick as the nurse drew my blood, 2 viles in 2 seconds, and I felt great.  It also helped that I was laying in one of their birthing room beds with nice silk sheets and swanky pillows, I felt like I was at home!  Overall I was glad the experience was over, will wait to hear if I possibly have gestational diabetes.

The rest of our appointment went well. I am measuring at 25 weeks, gaining a steady weight of 18 pounds and was told that  I am to be gaining an average of 1 pound a week (something I should have been doing starting at week 14). No other complains except some acid reflux at time and now having back pain, which is a great excuse to get some prenatal massages!   I am still working out here and there, going to hip hop (low impact) and trying to walk and go to the gym with my prenatal trainer.

Our baby is kicking and moving all over the place now, and Todd was able to see "Bertha" actually move across my stomach the other night.  He can see the kicks and punches through my skin!  Amazing!
