Todd started my birthday off to a great start with homemade waffbles in bed! I then spent most of the day with Luna, exactly how I wanted to spend it. Then I had a nice afternoon massage, the first since I delivered her! I went to Hiatus Spa and totally recommend this place, it was one of the best massages I've had! Then my mom came over to babysit Luna, the first time we've left her alone yet! We've had my mom and other family watch Luna while we've been home at the same time, and Todd has watched her a lot while I've run errands, but we have never left her alone without one of us. I felt less nervous though since my mom has been around Luna a lot and I've trained her well on Luna's schedule, feedings and pet peeves. We had a great dinner at Tillman's Roadhouse, my favorite! I had my first drink of alcohol since I found out I was pregnant! Pinot Noir! It was great but I sure felt tipsy after 1 small glass :) The dessert was the best, peanut butter cookie (warmed) topped with fudge and a chocolate chip cookie and a side of hot fudge, also topped with homemade banana ice cream. It is really addicting! We made it home by 9pm and Luna was in bed and had done well with her Grandma (still working on what Luna will call her grandma, Gigi?) We're so glad she did so well and will look forward to the next time she'll come over to babysit. Dessert! My first glass of wine Luna attended her first movie on Saturday! We saw Toy Story 3 at the Inwood Theater and decided on the 11am showing, since it would be the least crowded. We had not been to a movie ourselves since Luna was born and decided that it would be safe to take her to a kids movie where other kids would be talking and screaming. Luckily there were only 2 other families in the entire theater and Luna did great! I nursed her when the movie began and then she fell asleep for the entire movie, while I held her in my arms. I love all the Toy Story movies and this was was just as good as the others, I even cried at the end :( Can't wait for Luna to go to her real first movie one day where she'll actually enjoy watching one, maybe it will be Toy Story 4!
Luna slept 9 hours last night from 8:30pm-5am! Of course it may just be a one night thing, but we are so glad it's a start for her! She's been having a few nights since she turned 2 months where she was sleeping for 5 hours here and there and the night before last she slept from 9pm-3am. The first 2 months she had to feed every 2-3 hours to gain weight and establish my milk supply. If you go more than 3 hours without a feeding in the early weeks, then your body thinks it doesn't need to make as much milk and won't supply as much- I know, a little TMI but it's been the reason I haven't slept, that and the fact that breastfed babies digest milk super fast so they get hungrier faster. No matter what, I am so fortunate I have had a good supply of milk and that she's getting all the benefits of it that I have been reading about, so I hope it keeps her healthy! This is a picture of Luna in her crib as she naps, but she is still sleeping with us in her bassinet next to me at night. I'm sure she's ready to move into her crib at night, but her momma is still wanting her near her at night :) We met our friends Bao, Thomas, Phil, little Ava and baby Tinsley at Kona Grill at Northpark on Sunday for lunch. Half price sushi on Sundays rocks! Todd is obsessed with their sushi and I think I even caught him in the middle of eating a piece in this picture..lol. We love living close to Northpark Mall and we've been I think 4 or 5 times with Luna in the past 2 weeks. It's a good place to go with kids when it's soo hot outside! Tinsley is only 4 weeks older than Luna but it's amazing to see how much bigger she is, they grow so fast the first few months. Bao and Baby Tinsley
I just had to put Luna in her Abbey Road Beatles onesie tonight to sleep in. Her Aunt Erika bought this for her as we grew up loving the Beatles, and Abbey Road was one of our favorite albums at like age 3! So far her favorite song from the album is 'Golden Slumbers', and loves her mom singing it to her as she's rocked to sleep :) Luna's Birth Center had a Mama Tea for the most recent baby births and their mom's. It was so nice to go back and see the birth center, as you get so used to going once a month to once a week while pregnant and then after your 6 week check up post delivery is when you stop going and that's it! A lot of my friends have said the same thing, that they got attached to their OB's and once it was over, was hard to not go back. I was really missing seeing the staff and being a part of the whole process while pregnant, so it was nice they invited us back to meet other moms, have tea and tell our birth stories. Then they had us all meet outside with our babies stripped down to their diapers and take a 'Circle of Babies' picture. Luna was one of the oldest at 9 weeks and is the one in the red cloth diaper. Luna turned 2 months on July 13th and we can't believe how time has flown! I have seen a few newborns at La Leche meetings and my birth center and it is unbelievable how much smaller they are at 3 weeks old versus Luna, it just shows you how much they grow in a few weeks! We took her to her 2 month check up and she is doing great! Here are her measurements (which of course mean nothing, only that she is growing and doing fabulous! Percentiles are retarded in my opinion!) Weight 11.7 pounds..........60-70 percentile Height 22 inches................40-50 % Head 38 cm.........................25th percentile We decided to space out her vaccinations as well, as anyone that knows Luna's mommy knows about the story as a teenager when her pediatrician gave her too many shots at once (4 shots and one of them was a new one that I had to sign a waiver before they gave to me!) and passed out afterwards for 10 minutes, had a pseudo seizure while passed out and was rushed to the neurology department at Medical City. Needless to say, I have read the Vaccine Book by Dr. Sears and we are going by his recommended schedule of receiving 2 shots at a time, once a month. That way she does not get aluminum toxicity and they can determine more easily which shot could have given a side effect. She got her first 2 shots on Thursday, July 15th, Rotavirus (oral) and the DTaP and handled them very well! I held the poor thing as she cried but they were over quickly and she got a Tweety Bird band-aid. Luna before her shots
Luna's first 4th of July! She is showing off one of her new outfits from family friend Garice, in her little eyelet shirt and mock-jean pants! We started the day over at Aunt Erika's pool for some grilling and fun times. Then headed over to her cousin's home at Jeff and Angie's. She had a great time watching all of the kids play including cousins Jefferson, Fletcher and Evelyn. Evelyn is 2 years old and loves babies, constantly pointing at Luna and calling her 'baby', too cute! Her friend Grayson was there too and kept waving at her and smiling at his new girlfriend. We decided not to head out to their country club to watch the lights this year, as Luna is too young to be out around all the people and bugs and the noise, so we headed home but stopped at the top of the area hill to watch the Lakewood Fireworks. We had a great time as our family's first 4th! Grandma Mary Sue Evelyn Luna and her momma Fletcher after the pool and very serious about his iPhone Grayson
