A few weeks ago my sister had her birthday party at White Rock Skate and my step sister and her family were in town: Husband Russ, and kids Marcos and Katalina. We started the weekend off at White Rock Skate and it was like a trip back in time! It brought back old memories of skating at Star Lite Skate (the one off Harry Hines and Forest) and Thunderbird, and Joseyskate Land! The minute I walked in the doors, it felt like nothing in this rink had changed one bit and I was in the movie Roller Boogie (the one with Linda Blair!). Luna was fascinated with all of the lights and skates. The theme was 80's and Luna came as Rainbow Bright! Erika, Lauren and Nicole in 80's gear! Chris and his fiance Jamie! Can you believe we've known Chris since like 1985 as his neighbors? He also showed up in his flip flops, 'Titties', remember those from the 80's? Marcos at the Concession Stand Then the next day we went up to my mom's house for a family dinner. Aunt Mimi bought Luna the cutest Disney Princess dress up dress for her birthday! She LOVED wearing it! We had a nice afternoon with Picadillo, and Cuban black beans and rice. We are sorry they have to leave and hope to see them again soon! She also enjoyed wearing Katalina's cowboy hat! The girls! The boys! (Doesn't Marcos look like his grandfather still?? And his dad of course too ;)

Luna turned 23 months today and I can't believe that she will be 2 years old next month. We won't be referring her age in months anymore :(
What has she been up to? Every day she does something new and says something so cute! This month one of the cutest things she's started doing is saying, "Daddy, where are you?" Or to our dogs, "where'd they go, where'd they go?" She loves playing in her kitchen and taking care of her baby dolls. Hopefully her great baby caring skills will help her adjust to life with a newborn soon :) She also loves her Kindermusik classes still and gets really excited to go. And she's doing great in her MDO. Her teachers say she is the class hugger and loves hugging all of her friends. I can't believe how far she's come there. The first day she was in tears and I never thought she would get used to being dropped off, but now she loves going and reaches for her teachers. As for her eating habits, still the same. Loves carbs and no veggies but she is now liking Cuties! Thankgoodness she still loves her Juice Plus chewies. Toddler eating habits are so strange. One day they love something, the next, they hate it. Her sleep has been good but has had a few bumps in the road. The time change was good at first, but now she is waking up a little bit earlier and wanting to go to bed a little later, but she is still more of a 7/7:30pm bedtime and wakes between 7-8am. Her naps are good, still averaging 3 hours and let's cross our fingers it stays that way when the baby comes! Luna had a great Easter Weekend! Her Grandfather and Sherry came to town to visit and see Aunt Erika for her birthday. On Saturday we went to the Arboretum and Luna enjoyed her fun outing with her family! So on Sunday morning Luna woke up to her Easter basket from the Easter Bunny. I am still trying to not give her much candy or chocolate since she had already had some this week, so instead her basket was filled with little toys. Then we headed to my mom's for Easter Brunch. My dad and Sherry joined us as well as Aunt Erika. Luna was of course the center of attention and loved her new Easter gift from her Coco, a baby doll with a magnetic paci! And of course no Easter brunch would be complete without my mom serving macarons.
We FINALLY turned Luna's car seat around to face the front. Todd has been wanting to do this for a long time, but I was still scared to do it, with the current recommendation to keep it rear facing until age 2. But since she is turning 2 on May 13th, we went ahead and turned her. I have to say she is much happier facing front and loves looking out the windows. Here's a picture of her right after we turned it, and she is a little shocked at what is going on! Oh and we don't have her completely strapped in, so don't worry, we didn't leave drive off with her straps not on correctly.
Luna and I headed over to Northpark to meet Giada at Williams Sonoma with my mom and Raul. It was crazy crowded and I was so grateful my mom went early and waited in line, since I was too pregnant to stand for that long. Apparently Giada was 30 minutes late getting there so she was rushing the line through. When we got up to her she looked at me and signed my book and smiled and was ready for the next one. But I managed to remember not to be star struck and said, "It is so nice to meet you! This is my daughter Luna" and she congratulated me on my pregnancy and then my mom chimed in and said she loves seeing her little girl on TV and how cute she is. So was really nice and I'm so glad we went to meet her!
Luna has really enjoyed Easter activities so far this year, and it's still a week away! On Wednesday we went to her friend Ella Grace's house for a fun Easter playdate and hunt. Everyone made such cute egg themed foods and the tots really had fun hunting for eggs. Now if only we can get them to sit still for a picture. Maybe next year! Yum! And this was only half of the spread the moms brought. And they're off! She was working so hard, she lost her bow in the process! Everyone inspecting their goods Then, this Saturday, our PTA put on a huge Easter Hunt event at the Lake Highlands Rec Center Park. Luna had a meltdown before the hunt began because she could not understand why all of the eggs were in front of her and she wasn't allowed to get them yet. Patience is a word she does not quite get yet :) Oh, and yes she is wearing the same dress as the other party, in case you noticed, but it is not her Easter dress. This dress is her only play dress that fits at the moment. Since Luna is still too young to go to Church for Easter, we are going to be celebrating at my mom's house with a nice brunch and mini egg hunt. We also hope to go to a Bluebonnet field for some great photo ops in her dress this week. Inspecting the goods Her favorite find, marshmallow cupcakes! Yep, that's a piece of candy in her mouth Will we ever get her to smile for the camera? Had to get a little relaxing swing in after her big day
