Sigh. I can't even. I just can't believe my girl started Kindergarten. I was dreading this day, but I know every child has to grow older. Why can't they just stay cute and 4 years old forever?? We first went to her open house day where she met her teacher and found her cubby a few days before school started. The night before school started, we went to eat at Mariano's to celebrate! Well, we are off for her first year of real school!

While Belle was in Ballet Camp this week, I took the chance to spend some one-on-one time with Luna before Kindergarten starts. We did one morning at Hypnotic Donuts, then pedicures. We also met the twin girls I used to babysit when they were 2, for lunch and they are starting 8th grade!! Another day we went to a bead shop so she could design a necklace and she was so sweet to think of her sister and make something for her. We also spent one morning at Northpark and had a breakfast croissant at La Madeline, then the last day we spent at Bake and Play. It was such a fun week, Luna had a blast and I was so glad to have that special time with her!
My sweet Belle attended her first camp this week at Studio B. It was a Cinderella camp from 9-11am and she took it with her preschool friends Evelyn, Emma, Kate, Charlotte and Violet. Luna and I also had a nice time doing last minute Mommy and Luna time before she starts Kinder! I'll save that for the next post :)
We signed Luna up for a Cross Cheer/Dance camp the last week of July as her only real camp activity for the summer. She really enjoyed going and had a performance her last day.
Also, Luna took an art mommy and me class called Little Leonardos, all summer every Friday at the Perot and the theme was the Barrier Reef. She used to take it as a baby called Scribbles and Dribbles and once when she was 3 and Belle was 1 they both took it together. It was fun do to this class with her while my family took care of Belle this summer. It was a last mommy and me activity before Kindergarten starts! She had her 'art show' the last day of class and was so proud of her work! Todd took me to a nice dinner at Uchi for my birthday the Saturday before and it was amazing!! The fried milk dessert was sooo good! And their food is so fresh and different.
Then on my actual birthday, we went to playgroup and my sweet friends had a birthday donut celebration. I am so thankful for such a great group of gals! Then I had a sweet celebration with my family that night at Mesero. Later in the week my friends celebrated by taking me to Urban Vines Wine Bistro. AND if that's not enough, my good friend Bao took us to dinner at Nobu!! Yum! I had a great birthday week and I am so thankful for such wonderful friends and family! Luna had her tonsils removed on July 16th and let me tell ya, I had been DREADING this day for a few months. I almost could not even enjoy our Colorado trip because of it. I was so so anxious about her surgery and super nervous for her. The poor girl had no idea it was going to happen until the night before. No need to worry her before right, and so we read her a story about a girl who gets her tonsils out and told her it was normal, that her grandma Coco and Aunt Erika both had theirs out. But the poor thing sobbed and said she didn't want them out! Ugh. We had to be at the hospital at 6am so we basically didn't sleep the night before. We also chose the same doctor that took out my sister's tonsils.
Baylor Frisco was amazing. It felt like we were in a hotel and not a hospital. They took us back to the pre-op room, gave Luna a special gown and a teddy bear and some silly juice. We watched Disney Jr and then they came to take her away. She was so brave and I smiled at her as she went off, and then got super nervous in the waiting room. My mom and Belle and I went to the gift shop so Belle could pick a gift out for Luna, and when we got back her surgery was over already! Dr. Tseng said it went great and took me to her immediately. The poor thing was just waking up in her bed and the nurse had her cough and asked me to climb into bed with her. It was so sweet to hold her and comfort her and they wheeled the both of us up to her room. She watched a lot of TV and ate well at first and then after a few hours lost her appetite. Poor thing needed morphine and then vomited a few times. Everyone went home for the night, and I stayed with her. I can't imagine going home the day of tonsil surgery! It is major surgery and she really need the medical attention, and they wanted to monitor her oxygen levels since she had had sleep apnea before the surgery. The next morning we were ready to go and were discharged by 10am. The next 2 weeks were recovery time. The first few days were okay, but day 4 was the worst. She just didn't move off the sofa the whole day, and refused to eat, which made her vomit and also didn't want to take her medication, which caused pain, which made her not want to eat, etc. Vicious awful cycle and we even took her bottle of liquid pain meds back to Walgreens to get more flavor! Lots of ice cream and juice. By day 13 she was back to herself but we still took it easy the next week. I am SO GLAD this is over and hopefully Belle won't have to go through this! This summer we went on our annual Hartgrove family trip to Colorado! This year we decided to drive there though, and not fly. It was a looong drive, but it was really fun. I am not a car driving person, and usually can only handle a 4 hour drive, so the 13+ drive to Breckenridge was crazy to me, but Todd was determined. We came armed with tons of activities for the car and Ipads of course. And I have to mention too that my kids DO NOT sleep in the car. No matter what time we are in the car, morning, noon, night, they just flat out won't sleep. So with that being the case we knew we'd have to stop at a hotel in Amarillo both ways. Our first leg wasn't too bad minus a vomiting incident with Luna after McDonalds for breakfast. We never eat McDonalds so this was the first and last time. But we had a good time stopping at places using our Roadtrippers App. We had dinner at The Texan in Amarillo and had a blast! The next morning we woke up and headed to Breckenridge. We passed through the panhandle and then onto New Mexico where we saw a volcano, and then stopped for lunch when we got to Trinidad, Colorado. Then went off towards Highway 9 straight into Breckenridge. We finally got in around 3pm MST and checked into our new rental which was very nice and a few minutes closer to Main St than our old home. We then ate at Oscar's Taco House on Main Street for dinner and I ordered a much needed margarita (see pic below) it was delish. The girls were on meltdown mode because they of course had not napped all day so after our quick dinner we headed home. We got to the house and they passed out early! The Ferreryo's arrived at night and then Buelo Richard the next morning. We had a blast at the Main St Fourth of July Parade the next day. The rest of our trip we rode horses, went up on the mountain to ride the rides and Luna did the bungee jump trampoline. The girls and I went to the Breck Children's Museum one day while the grown ups did white water rafting. As always we had lots of fun family time, good food and mountain fun and hated to have to leave ;( Thanks again for a great trip and for Buelo Richard! Until next summer! Oh, and our return trip home we went through Colorado Springs and basically a repeat of our trip there, meltdowns, no sleep and we stopped in Amarillo for the night- oh and a few rain storms along the way but we finally made it home!
We had the best time at Seaworld! My father and Sherry treated us and the girls to a nice trip to San Antonio for their birthday present. We stayed at the Hilton Resort and they girls enjoyed the pool and roasting smores! On Saturday we headed to Sea World and had the Sesame Street breakfast! They loved seeing all of the characters!! Then we headed out to see the penguins, then the Shamu show, or as they now call it the 'Orca Whale Show.' The girls loved it and we got soaking wet! We also saw the beluga whale show with acrobats which was amazing. We then headed back to the hotel to rest and take naps. Then we went back to ride some of the kid rides and see the Sea Lion show. It was super hot by then, so we were glad we saw most in the morning. We had dinner at the hotel and the girls passed out that night! We had a great taco breakfast the next morning and then headed back to Dallas! The girls loved loved their weekend trip! Thanks for the trip Sherry and Daddy!
One of Luna's classmates, Santiago and his younger brother Sebastian, hosted a graduation party at their home. It was so cute with all the props, cake and a pinata! The girls had a great time and so sad this chapter of Luna's life is over, but looking forward to new adventures.
I can't believe my baby turned 3 this month! We celebrated with her class a few days early on the 19th with cupcakes. Then on the 23rd she had her birthday celebration! She opened presents: a new dress-up wardrobe set, Anna Coronation dress, books, and clothes. Then she had her bday donut, followed by a trip to Build a Bear to put her Paci (she only sleeps with it) inside a bear and then dinner at Kaze's Japanese Steakhouse. She wanted to go to a place like Luna did, Benihana's, but since we were just there decided to go to Kaze's where the food is even better and cheaper. Oh and side note here, the paci did not go over well that night. Poor thing was up until 12am and we finally caved and gave her a paci. She hates the bear too, thinks it stole her paci. This was a much better idea for Luna and worked instantly with her. Sigh. Otherwise Belle had a fun birthday!!
