They had graduation that evening where all of the families were invited and each class performed a song. We all had a potluck family dinner and the kids played in the bounce house. I just love the family feel of Greenland Hills and glad Belle will be returning there in the Fall!
Wow, the last day of school was so sentimental and tearful for me! I swear it was just the other day Luna was starting her first day of preschool at Greenland Hills as a 2.3 year old child! And Belle was in my infant carrier as an almost 3 month old baby dropping Luna off with me. Now, 3 years later she is graduating :( It was also super sentimental because this was the first year both girls were in school there together! Such an amazing year with their friends, teachers and staff! I loved dropping and picking the girls up, I am really going to miss their last year together there. I teared up driving them to school that day as I knew it would be the last, and I teared up at pick up too. Also because most of Luna's friends are all going to different schools next year! Lakewood, Stonewall Jackson, Mata, Hexter, Highland Park Day School, WRE, Robert E Lee and one moving to Frisco. Luna will be the only one going to Highlander School but luckily she already knows a few area kids going there (Tessa, Jake and Laura).

We celebrated Luna's birthday at school the day before on her actual birthday, the 13th. Then the morning of, we skipped school and started with pancakes for breakfast, opening presents, a trip to Toys R Us, lunch at Chocolate Angel and then dinner with our family at Benihana's! She was super excited to get her new Frozen bicycle, Elsa's Coronation dress, lots of books and a Frozen Lego Set!
Luna and Belle have both been taking ballet/tap at Studio B where Luna took last year. Unfortunately for this momma, they had classes on different days this year but we all still enjoyed it! Luna was able to take with her friend Jillian and Belle had Isla, Evelyn and Annabelle in her class. The 2/3's had their recitals on the 9th and then Luna had hers with the big girls on May 16th and was it big! I felt like I was dropping off at a teenager's recital in downtown Dallas! Both girls did a great job and so glad I have little girls to enjoy these moments!
This year we decided again to celebrate the girls' birthdays together! They said they had already done the Frozen theme, so they wanted a Princess themed party. All Disney Princesses AND Anna and Elsa. We also made it a Pirate/Knight party for the boys. So we booked it at the Lake Highlands Rec Center Gym which we love how the price includes 2 bounce houses, and also booked a face painter. The kids had a blast!! The favors were crowns, with princess rings and wands for the girls and boys had inflatable swords (you can see them in the last picture behind the boys)! I served Ariel's Goldfish, Cinderella Pizza, Snow White Apples, and Aurora Princess Popcorn. The girls also each had their own princess cake, Belle had Rapunzel and Luna had Cinderella. Belle also was dressed as none other than Princess Belle and Luna wore her new Cinderella dress (from the new movie). We had so much fun and so many kids, like 50 and their parents :)
I love Easter with my sweet girls. It's so fun now with them getting dressed up and having lots of Easter Egg hunts! The girls had Easter parties at school, and then our MOPS group had an Easter hunt at Lakewood Park. Then we went to Church Easter morning at St. Michael's then to my mom's for Easter dinner. Fun MOPS Easter Egg Hunt Easter at Church, then off to Coco and Buelo's house for Easter dinner and an indoor hunt!
This month was my volunteer parent month for Luna's class. They are studying France, so I decided to have them make croissants (crescent rolls) and fill them with chocolate, and then read a few kids books on Paris. It's my favorite place and I think I lived there in a former life!
Todd was able to meet me there on his lunch break to help, and I am so glad he could. I remember my dad volunteering at my school (Mother's Co-Op) and have great memories of it! Luna's class loved making the croissants and the best part was eating them! Belle has been ready for potty training probably way before the holidays. I just didn't have a 3 day weekend free to commit to it, and frankly diapers are way, way easier! You aren't having to cut your Target shopping experience short to run to the bathroom, where I sanitize the heck out of the seat, put down seat protectors and make sure my child does not touch a thing. So yes, diapers are much easier.
I was worried she would still need a pull up at night, since she waking up wet each time, so another reason I put it off. But she was so wanting to try what her big sister does, that she was literally potty training herself. I mean taking off her diaper and climbing up on the potty. So Todd took Luna to a camping trip with the Y and I had her all to myself. I was stressing though because last time with Luna, we both were about to lose it by day 3. Just the intensity of having to watch your child like a hawk for 3 days, accidents, and not leaving the house can cause the calmest to go stir crazy! (ha, I told Todd he owed me big time for doing solo!) We started on a Friday and it went pretty well. She had already picked out her panties and loved wearing them. It is just so darn cute to see her in panties!! She had an accident in the middle of the night Friday, but by Saturday did great and only had about 1. Then again had one at night, then maybe one on Sunday and slept through the night Sunday night! This 3 day method really does something to their brains and makes them wake up to go or something. I am so glad we didn't have to do pull ups with either child!! Must less to have to break later down the road. And now she refuses any child potty, and wants to use the real one. But I still have the port a potty in my trunk in case she can't make it, and yes, we have used it a few times already. Happy Valentine's Day! My area PTA had a Daddy/Daughter Valentine's dance and this year he took both Luna and Belle. They had a blast and I wish I could have been a fly on the wall to see it ;) Then the girls had Valentine parties at their schools. We made heart Valentine crayons for their friends. They really enjoyed making them and getting Valentine treats at school!
I've wanted my girls to share a room since before they were born ;) I feel like it brings siblings closer and when I was a kid, I either ended up in my sister's room or she was in mine. I would get scared and want to sleep in her room. So it just seems much easier for them to share one now while they are young.
So we converted Luna's toddler bed back to a crib so Belle could sleep in it, and then bought Luna a twin bed. We also bought a matching twin for Belle to use when she is ready for one. So right now we 2 beds in Luna's room and 2 beds in Belle's room..lol. Belle still naps every day so we kept the crib in her room for now for nap time. So far the sleeping at night has gone OK. Belle and Luna talk and keep each other up so we will have to see how this goes. It's definitely taking them longer to fall asleep, so they are more cranky the next day. But we hope it's just a short time thing. So far it seems like they have gotten a little closer, or maybe it's wishful thinking:) They usually play together so well, minus a few "she's not sharing" and Belle trying to get her big sister's attention. But the long term plan is for them to be in Luna's room (room makeover in progress) and then move most of the toys in Belle's room for a playroom/guest room. Even if I had 10 bedrooms in my house, I would still want them to share a room. |
