Ever since we went to the Zoo, Luna has loved the Gorillas. Here is a cute video of her telling us what a Gorilla says :) Luna also loves making all of her other animal sounds! Notice how she is really good at keeping still. She is the same in high chairs in restaurants these days, in case you were wondering.

I forgot to post some pictures of Todd's birthday! He had an awesome birthday with lots of birthday meals at Javiers with his family, Al Biernat's, Meso Maya and Del Frisco's Grill. He sure made out well this year :) Next year is going to be the big one, 40! We went to Del Frisco's Grill to celebrate just the two of us on Tuesday night, 2/23. We also celebrated with my Dad, Sherry and Erika at Al Biernat's on Saturday night.
Last week our Mother's Day Out (CCDC) had a Teacher Appreciation Week. They needed volunteers to help take over the class so the teachers could go grab a nice lunch in the teacher lounge. So I volunteered Todd and I to take over. I can't believe they let us loose in the room! We fed the 9 kids, cleaned them up, changed a few diapers and read them stories. It brought me back to my college days of working in day cares, and as for Todd, well, he sure had a rude awakening for what the teachers have to do. We sure appreciate all the hard work they do!
We went to Miss Mila's 1st birthday party last weekend. I can't believe she turned 1! Luna is 9 months older than her and it is amazing at the differences and how fast they grow up. She had such a cute Minnie Mouse theme and her mom Carmen went all out, even with Marionettes and a full sized Minnie ;)
Yesterday was Todd's birthday so we planned a fun family outing to the Dallas Zoo before her afternoon nap. She hadn't been yet and we have been wanting to take her for a long time now. AND, I had not been to the Dallas Zoo since I was a kid myself. Let me tell you, it has really, really changed! But I can still remember going with my preschool and holding a Boa Constrictor and actually found the room my class was in- I can't believe they still have some of the old buildings there. But Luna LOVED being there and wanted out of her stroller to see everything. Poor Todd sure got a work out chasing Luna around as I pushed the empty stroller. Her favorite animal was the Gorilla and kept asking 'more more' each time he moved. (And no, they are not trapped in some glass container, they do have a pretty big jungle area to roam around in, they just have a little glass observation area for us to view them through). She also enjoyed seeing the big animals in the African Savannah. Elephants, Giraffes, Lions and Zebras!
Luna attended one of her friend Addison's birthday party on Saturday and she had a blast playing at the Lake Highlands Rec Center. But what was the highlight of the day was when she spied the Elmo Cupcakes, it was all over at that point, as she constantly asked, 'cupcake, cupcake!' I swear she has only had about 5 in her life so far, but they must have made a huge impression on her because she loves them! Birthday Girl!
This past Friday, Luna's PTA had a Valentine's party hosted at the Lake Highlands Rec Center. It was so much fun to see Luna run around and try to play basketball, jump in the bounce house and play with all of the little gym equipment. Her Coco came with us and she loved chasing her around the room. And then today Luna had fun at her friend's Valentine's party! She ate a lot of sweets (see the sugar all over her face?) and had fun decorating a Valentine!
Luna turned a whole 21 months old today! Even though it is cold outside now and in the middle of February, in just 3 months it's going to be her birthday, say it ain't so! 2 years old already???? In honor of Valentine's day, I put her in her old Valentine's dress from last year for the month shot, just to compare: At 21 months the biggest milestone is her language. She says more and more words now and will repeat whatever you tell her. In fact the other day, she said, "Here we go!"
As for her other milestones, she is now telling me when she needs to go to the bathroom and each time, whether it's a pee or a poo, she tells me,"pooo!" And wants her diaper changed, so we bought her a little potty. Of course she just plays with it now but we are working on it. I still have not decided on if we are going to do the 3 day method or not. Socially she is doing great at MDO, but at playdates she is now more wanting to stick close to mom, and does not run off to play on the playground. She doesn't want to leave my side much but it is just a phase. She is eating about the same, picky eater! No veggies much either, so we are going the Juice Plus route for kiddos. Sleep is still a 2-3 hour nap from 12-3 and she goes to bed from 7-7am. We are big on sleep so I like her to get as much as she can so we stick on a schedule. We miss things sometimes because of her sleep, but hello, what is more important right? She is just a doll at this age! Todd's family came in town to visit on their way to San Antonio. They are Luna's Aunt Heather and Uncle Rey, cousin Rey Jr and cousin Carolyn. We enjoyed having them stay with us and have some fun play time with Luna. Of course we were just so excited to have them that we forgot to pick up the camera during their short stay except to capture this precious picture of Luna giving hugs to her cousin :)
So after our sonographer put the gender of the baby on the sonogram and sealed it in an envelope, we FINALLY decided to open it and see what we were going to have. We at first were not ready to start planning and searching for names, etc. but figured with only 4 months to go, we better get started. We decided to go to our favorite restaurant, Stephen Pyles, since they really take care of you there. We didn't want to go to some loud trendy place where we would have to wait for a table and then the moment would not be cherished at all. So immediately when we walked in, they sat us at a nice cozy booth, the waiter knew exactly what we were there for, treated us like royalty and even brought us some sparkling cider after our dessert to celebrate. We decided to wait too and open it during dessert. So, here is the outcome of what we are having a.......: Yay, baby girl! Luna of course the girl loves her dessert! Coffee and donuts with a coffee cream brulee...sorry, Todd's fork was already demolishing the brulee We are excited but now the next task is naming the baby. I knew I loved the name Luna 15 years ago, but I never thought of a second name..so I'll be getting the baby name books this time around.
