Have I mentioned how Frozen has taken over our house? Ha, that's putting it mildly. So the girls have decided that for their birthday this month, they want a Frozen birthday party. Go figure. I tried to snap a few pics for their invitation and got some great candids with maybe just one where they both were looking at the camera!

Easter is a fun holiday in our home, especially since it involves candy :) We get out the decorations from the attic and put cute bunnies all over the house. Todd thinks it's nuts but the girls love it. We also LOVE all of the fun Easter Egg hunts. Luna is very into her hunts and takes them seriously. It's all she talked about the week before Easter! The first one was at a friend's church Northpark Presbyterian and the girls loved it! Unfortunately my pics weren't great as I was trying to help them look for eggs while snapping photos. Then Luna had her school Easter Party and hunt. Her school is so thoughtful, cute and small, that they even included Belle in the hunt. Friday morning we had the MOPS Easter hunt at Lakewood Park with their friends and it was so fun! Jack and Isla helped my girls in the hunt too, so cute! The kids had a blast and then they played on the playground afterwards. Win win! The girls woke extra early Easter morning and could not wait to see what the Easter Bunny had brought them! I tried to do more toys and less candy, since my kids turn into the devil with candy :) We also attempted to get some Bluebonnet Pictures in their dresses Easter morning. Fail! Getting them both to smile, hair not windblown, look at the camera and not stick out their tongues was the hardest thing ever! Oh well, next year. Then we headed to my mom's house for Easter. The girls had a Easter hunt in her front yard and they loved playing with all of their new Easter toys afterwards.
We had our last Wee Wildcat day at Lake Highlands Elementary School. Luna had a science class, and 2 PE classes. She really enjoyed it and we love the staff and school. Although I am still having issues with my almost 4 year old going from a small school of 40 kids and 9 per class to a school of 800! And classes of 25 kids, yikes!! Luckily we have another year :)
My dad and step mom bought the girls a bounce house for their birthday, and we were so happy it came early!! We set it up immediately and it's perfect weather now for it too!!
We went to the Zoo with my friend Laura and her kids Caden and Annabelle on Tuesday. She has a membership and was nice enough to offer us her discounted rate :) I forget how awesome this place is on a weekday! Not crowded at all and we could see all of the animals and the weather was amazing! We rode the Monorail train too, they had fun pointing at all of the animals. They also had a baby Mandrill hanging onto its momma. It's hard to see in the reflection, but it was just adorable! We had lunch at the Safari area in the cafe that looks out towards the Lions, and it was really cool! We actually witnessed the male lion standing up and roaring really loud. I never get that kind of show when I go to the zoo, so it was fun to see. I wish the zoo was as close as the Arboretum, we would be there once a week!
Last month a group of us spent the night at the Belmont Hotel for a Moms Night Out and I have to say it was pretty spectacular! A night away from home AND with some of my favorite girls! The sweetest part was that it was a Christmas gift to us from our husbands and we had no clue until we all opened our cards on Christmas day. I was teary eyed as I read the card, because it was the most touching thing ever. My group of girlfriends all first met at our first ever playgroup at Erin's house back in October 2010, when Luna was just a few months old. We all bonded and started hanging out with each other as we were the first stay at home moms in the PTA bunch with babies. Our PTA playgroup has since grown, but we still do small things like this mom night together with just the 6 of us. Some of our lives have changed, and it was so touching to know that our husbands pulled together to get this gift for us. I feel so blessed to have such a great group of friends and husbands! So our night out included 2 suites at the Belmont, and when we arrived we saw that Heather's husband had already visited the room and bought us food and booze! So sweet! After settling into our rooms, we then took the hotel van over to the Trinity Groves area and sat outside eating at Souk. Amazing Moroccan food, and we celebrated Erin's birthday too! Then we headed back to the hotel for our Belmotini drinks at the bar. Then we went back to our rooms for the Tarot card readings that were part of the hotel girls night package. While we waited we played Cards without Humanity, and next thing you knew, it was 12am and no Tarot reader. Hmmm, so apparently he was a no-show. Darn! The next morning we ate brunch next door at Smoke, yum! The hotel apologized for the no-show and said to call the manager on Monday about it. Then we then headed home. It was sad to leave so soon and we all wanted to turn around and go back to our rooms :)
After talking to the hotel managers, we were able to get free Tarot readings for us and they credited our account. So we went back for our readings last Friday night and it was a lot of fun! The readings were more about our lives now and not some hocus pocus palm reading. He told me I was spread too thin and putting too much energy into things, you could have told me! Soo true :) This is why I am not going to be on the board for my PTA or Mops next year. Anywho it was fun and then we went next door to Smoke to eat and chat about our readings. |
