We had our first appointment at the Dallas Birthing Center on September 22, 2009. Todd was there to hold my hand and endure my neurocticness during the blood draw, my favorite part! We were then given a list of instructions including food intake, so I am to write down my daily diet and turn it in at every appointment- no big 11 pound babies to deliver for me please! She gave us tips on diet, exercise, vitamins, sleep, and overall care for the baby. Can’t wait to see how fast the baby grows and hear the heartbeat at the next appointment.
Baby Mama is 8 weeks along now! 2 months down already and the embryo is now a fetus. At this point the baby’s heart has formed and the vital organs are all in the process of growing. This is considered the ‘critical period‘ also known as the morning sickness period.

Dual bdays at the fancy 300 Bowling in Addison. Hedy and Terri have birthdays in September and we decided to have a joint party. Hedy was able to get a night out with her husband as they have been super busy with twin boys since their births in July. We had a great time bowling a 300, well, really I think I got to maybe a 90, my special moves were just not happening that night, but Todd was on fire as usual. We all had fun and finished it off with some homemade cupcakes for the birthday girls. After out first month of trying to get pregnant with no signs or symptoms for me and several negative test results, we were thinking we would just wait until the next month to try again. But after several more days, we tested just one more time to be sure and sure enough, buying the fancy digital tester worked! We were both in shock as the results came up and could not believe our eyes. I think I was still in shock the first few weeks and not believing it, as it was so surreal! We decided to wait until our first doctor’s appointments and tests before we shared the news with friends and family, plus the fact that I am super superstitious! It was sure hard hiding the constant need for sleep all day long, the constant need to gag and ALL day queasiness (‘morning’sickness is a myth), and coming off as high maintenance with not being able to drink, eat sushi, no tap water, no deli meats, decaf coffee! Labor Day Party at Mike's! Our volleyball team got together to hang out at Mike's house and pool. We played pool vball in then gorged out on bad for you pot luck food and yummy Kuby's and felt like beached whales. Most of the boys were going crazy watching the Alabama game inside while the rest of us played Karaoke on our Ipods until 1am when it was time to call it a night for a few people, namely poor Todd who had forgotten he was drinking 16 ounce instead of 12 ounce beers. |
