We headed out for a lunch date last Sunday to meet some friends at Dream Cafe. My friend Terri was there and she is an amazing professional photographer. She used her little point and shoot and took some awesome candid pics of Luna! She called it the 8 faces of Luna :)

Wow! Has it really been 5 months since I went into Labor with Luna? I got out my Pregnancy Journal and it was amazing to read everything again, how quickly you forget little things and all the details of her birth day! She has come so far, here are a few things she is doing now: -Still breastfeeding and growing like a weed. She won't start her Rice Cereal until she is around 6 months of age- makes sense to wait until she can sit up to eat and has a tooth at least! Plus if you start earlier, then they can develop allergies and stomach upsets -Enjoying tummy time more and more and really holding her head up well -Loves bearing weight on her legs and standing with assistance -Loves lights and the TV! I have to keep it off during the daytime :) -VERY observant and tracks and holds objects so well! -Teething like crazy, drooling and putting everything in her mouth -Has found her voice and loves making sounds and noises! -The only bad thing: Still wakes up once or twice to feed at night, but I am getting used to it! Apparently, solely fed breastfed babies tend to do this as breastmilk passes through their systems fast! In another month when she eats solids, she will get more full hopefully :) Here are a few snapshots of her in my old highchair. She is modeling the cutest outfit from her Aunt Mimi that is a copy of the one worn by Jennifer Anniston's baby Emma on "Friends". And her shoes are Baby Stewart Weitzman's given to her by our friend Nicole! She was a little more difficult to get to smile this morning, but we got a few good ones! Luna is starting to lose her hair! We were told it would happen but were so confused by when people told us her hair would start falling out- we were like 'what does that mean, is it going to fall out in clumps or disintegrate or what?' Well, we finally got our answer- she has all these little hairs all over her crib sheets and on her car seat head rest. I won't spare you the picture with the details, but just take our word for it. Another milestone she's completing and growing up so fast!! Not sure what her new hair color will be, but it kind of looks almost strawberry blonde but lighter than what she has already. Since I don't have a picture to post, I'll add one of her awesome manual dexterity skills she has mastered with our remote control!! Luna was able to finally meet her 3 boyfriends, Luke, August and Henry at my friend Ashley's house today! She was so excited and got all dressed up to woo them. She was so impressed by all of their fun toys and play area and begged me to come back again soon! They are just the cutest little things and it is so amazing how much they have grown!
It was Luna's first trip to the State Fair of Texas!! She met Big Tex, saw some animals in the petting zoo and watched a bunch of crazies eat some fried food and ride some really safe rides. It was a quick visit because little did we know it was also 'all teenagers of Dallas get in free night' with DISD, so the Midway was NUTS. After Todd and I won Luna a couple of toys, we headed home. Not happy I didn't get my fried chocolate or fried cookie dough, oh well, maybe next time- I'm sure my body is glad I passed on it. Petting Zoo
As most of you know, my dream has always been to be a stay at home Mom. I LOVE kids and is probably why I begged my mom to babysit at the age of 11 and continued to babysit and nanny all through college. I also worked in so many daycares in Austin and Dallas that I have lost count! I decided to finally major in Child Development and Psychology, because as much as I wanted to work with kids as a teacher, I saw so many behavior problems and so many poor kids suffering from so many things, that I wanted to help them even more as a specialist.
I decided to go to grad school to be a child counselor and play therapist, and I worked as a nanny for several families while I was in school and really enjoyed being with the young kids, most of them I started when the baby was 3-4 months old. And almost all of the moms ended up quitting their jobs to raise their kids, but would still use me as babysitters so they could run errands, kid-free :) After seeing all of these great families and taking care of these children, I could not wait to one day have some of my own- well, actually, I saw how HARD it was to raise kids and how much you have to give up and so I decided I wanted some of my own, but a few years down the line! And glad I waited so I could start my career to help kids and travel, have fun and do all the crazy things you can do before your life changes forever :) With all of that being said, i knew from a young age that I wanted to have kids and stay home and raise them. Funny story that on one of my first dates with Todd, when we were talking about what we wanted in life and if we wanted kids, etc. we both discussed how we wanted a traditional family and how I wanted to be a mom one day, full time. He must have thought I was pretty bold to talk about that up front on a second date, but hey, you have to be on the same page about this stuff and if your goals aren't similar, not so good, and better to be open about it sooner than later! I knew it was something I would sacrifice a lot for and was willing to give up any material possessions too. So, with our move from Austin that fell through, and our quick move to a home in Dallas, and then Luna being born, Todd had to find a new job quick in this recession, and it did not happen as fast as we wanted. So I had to start to work from home when Luna was 3 months old, but luckily I worked from home and Todd played Mr. Mom while he interviewed for a few jobs. Thank goodness he found one and started on Oct 4th and I am happy to report, I am now officially Luna's full time mommy!! So excited, can't even express with words how ecstatic I am to be a stay at home mom now!!!! We are going to have so much fun and I will really treasure the moments we have, as Luna's first TXOU weekend! She was wearing her little Diva outfit her grandmother bought her and I wish it could have brought good luck to the game, oh well, maybe next year! We had a great time at Brad and Michelle's Tailgate party, which we've attended every year since I moved back to Dallas but this was the first one with a baby! How our priorities have sure changed. She had a great time and enjoyed all of the excitement of the game but was soo ready for bed at 7pm!
Luna and her mommy went exploring for the nearest park with a baby swing. We live a block from an elementary school playground and a mile from White Rock Lake but sadly, they are not too baby friendly. So we finally found one near Merriman park off Abrams. She is a little bit too small for the bucket swing but she'll grow into it. We loved the park and that it's right off the trail to White Rock, so we can come back and bring our dogs as they'll love all of the running space! And yes, I'm sure you're wondering why don't we just get one of those little blue tree swings?- we are going to get one for our playground out back, but there's nothing like a good ole park swing, reminds me of all the fun parks I grew up going to in Dallas. Ooh, I'm not so sure about this Mom! Now I'm having fun! Holding on for dear life!
