Yesterday, Luna received her 2nd round of shots. We are following the Dr. Sears vaccine schedule so she goes once a month to get her shots and only receives 2 at a time. Last month was a breeze but this month was not so much! She received the Pc and HIB shots (menningitis vaccines) yesterday afternoon and screamed after she got them. I took her to the monthly La Leche meeting in our neighborhood around 7pm and realized she was not herself. She was extra fussy and crying a lot, so she ended up sleeping in my arms the entire time. When we got home, the poor little thing had a low grade fever and had to give her the first medicine she's received yet, a small dose of children's tylenol. She started feeling better but was up a lot of the night, so mommy did not get much sleep either :(
We started her birthday off with a nice walk in the neighborhood with our new friend Jack and his mommy- they live down the street and he is 8 months old. The day then got a little more cranky as she still had a low grade fever, more tylenol and cried a lot. Her Abuelo Richard was in town again and came by for a visit. Her Auntie E also came over to bring her a birthday present. Needless to say she was not a happy camper for their visits and we ended up getting take out for dinner so we would not spoil anyone else's meals out in public. Luna watched as we ate yummy food from Asian Mint. She then went down for the night but was up for most of it and was really more consolable in her mom's arms, and slept like that for most of the night! The next morning she woke up and acted as if nothing had ever happened!
As for her development, she is right on track:
She is bearing a lot of weight on her legs and loves standing
She makes amazing eye contact and will follow us around the room
Loves to grasp objects and play with the toys above her head on her Jungle Gym
She can lift her head up well and lifts it 90 degrees during tummy time
She turns her head as well when she hears her mommy's and daddy's voices
She loves to talk a lot and make a lot of funny noises with her mouth
And our favorite, she loves to smile!
